Ecology of an invasive ctenophore in the Baltic Sea, Germany

Mnemiopsis leidyi is an alien species first introduced into the Black Sea, and has since showed explosive outbreaks in other European seas. In 2008, I assisted in the monitoring of this outbreak in the Baltic Sea, specifically with regard to ecological impacts on native species.

I participated in field cruises based out of the IFM GEOMAR Institute in Kiel, Germany.
This involved biotic and physiochemical water quality sampling around the Baltic Sea.
I conducted gut content analyses to determine dietary overlap with native species.
